New Mayor Takes Over in West Hartford
Scott Slifka, West Hartford's longest-serving mayor, officially resigned on Monday after receiving a promotion with the LEGO Group.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Scott Slifka, West Hartford’s longest-serving and youngest mayor, officially stepped down from the position on Monday night and Deputy Mayor Shari Cantor was unanimously elected by the town council to succeed him.
Slifka, who was first elected to the council in 2001 and served as deputy mayor from 2002 until being elected mayor in 2004 at the age of 30, announced in January that he would resign after the 2016-17 budget was adopted because he had been promoted to Deputy General Counsel of The LEGO Group.
Also on Monday night, the council unanimously elected Leon Davidoff as deputy mayor and Dallas Dodge was sworn in to fill Slifka’s vacancy on the town council, according to the Hartford Courant.

After the meeting, Slifka told the Courant that West Hartford has become “the most desirable community in Connecticut, one of the most desirable in the country" and he was looking forward to “enjoying the town I had played a small part in creating."
Cantor told We-Ha.com that her primary goal as mayor is ensuring that West Hartford can “can position ourselves to remain vibrant for the future.”
