Northwest Catholic Announces National Merit Semifinalist
Northwest Catholic High School senior Benjamin Lee of Avon has been named a National Merit Semifinalist.

On September 12th the National Merit Scholarship Program released the names of this year’s National Merit Semifinalists. Benjamin Lee of Avon is among the elite.
Over 1.6 million students in more than 22,000 high schools across the country entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test), also known as NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). The pool of Semifinalists is comprised of less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Northwest Catholic’s Benjamin Lee is among the esteemed group of 16,000 Semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. Students awarded the title of Semifinalist will now compete to become a Merit Scholar.

This spring the National Merit Scholarship Program will announce which college-bound students will receive a portion of its $31 million scholarship fund, money provided by hundreds of businesses and universities who share NMSC’s goals of recognizing the nation’s most academically accomplished.
To become a Finalist, Benjamin and administrators at Northwest Catholic will submit a comprehensive scholarship application, which will detail his academic records, participation in activities, leadership abilities, and more. There will be no shortage of achievements in Ben’s application. Ben Lee is “the whole package,” as Northwest Catholic President Christian Cashman said during the school’s ceremony to announce Ben’s award.
