Northwest Catholic Celebrates Commended Students in 2017 National Merit Program
Northwest Catholic High School has 1 Semifinalist, 7 Commended Students & 1 National Hispanic Scholar in this year's National Merit Program.

Seven Northwest Catholic High School students have been recognized as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The NWC students being honored are Taylor Pane of Simsbury, Rachel Conover of Windsor, Sarah Jessen of Colebrook, Bryanna Ledwidge of Avon, John Dudley of Wethersfield, Veronica Eskander of East Longmeadow, and Allyson Voelker of New Hartford.
This year’s Commended Students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or PSAT/NMSQT.

“Being named a Commended Student is an exceptional accomplishment,” said John Cusson, Academic Dean at Northwest Catholic. “It opens numerous opportunities for these students. It certainly assists in the college admissions process and potentially provides additional scholarship opportunities.” Cusson continued, “We are extremely proud of their accomplishment.”
Northwest Catholic’s Class of 2017 has one Semifinalist, seven Commended Students, and one National Hispanic Scholar. Students will be recognized in the school newsletter, at parent night, and at the academic awards ceremony in May.

Students eligible for the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program will take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
