Northwest Catholic enjoying successful fall sports season
NWC girls soccer plays in the 2nd tournament round today at 4pm at Portland HS, and field hockey plays at 2 pm at Immaculate HS in Danbury.

Northwest Catholic for the first time in years sent three fall sports teams to their respective state tournaments. Boys soccer, girls soccer, and field hockey entered the first round of the Class S state tournament this week.
Boys soccer played a fierce game on Monday evening, losing 2-1 in overtime to Cromwell. With their best record in years and their first run at the state tournament in five, NWC boys soccer, with a record of 6-6-4, has a lot to be proud of, including recently learning that their coach, Terry Phillips, a 20 year veteran coach at Northwest, was named CCC West Coach of the Year.
The NWC boys soccer season may be over, but they’re not resting yet. They came out with great spirit Tuesday to support the girls’ teams and will continue to be in the stands as the girls compete in their tournament games.

Northwest Catholic football has also enjoyed a stand-out season. They are celebrating their best record since 2014. This Saturday at 10:30 am the Lions will play Bulkeley/HMTCA/Weaver in an effort to tip their record to 5-4. With the NWC cheerleading team, who placed in their first competition last weekend, offering their energy and support, the Lions will hopefully catch the win.
Northwest Catholic will celebrate a very successful fall sports season with a community potluck and awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 20 at the school. Boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey, football, cheerleading, and volleyball, the NWC team to have made the greatest turnaround mid-season, will gather as a community to honor the seniors, thank the coaches, break bread, and celebrate the great tradition and spirit of athletics at NWC.
