Obituary: Charles P. 'Chuck' Skuba, 49; West Hartford Resident

Charles P. “Chuck” Skuba, 49, of West Hartford, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. He was the husband of Kathleen Skuba and father of Elizabeth, Nate and Seth Skuba.

Born in Hartford, the son of Marion Skuba and the late Charles R. Skuba, Chuck attended Conard High School, Class of 1983, and graduated from the University of Hartford. He began his career in IT with Travelers, and worked at GDC and DSL.net, before his most recent position with Hartford Healthcare.

Chuck earned a black belt in the martial arts in his younger years but still played hockey in pickup games locally. He coached his boys Nate and Seth in baseball and enjoyed watching his daughter Elizabeth dance. Chuck loved fishing, boating and spending time with his family at their cabin in the Berkshires.

Chuck had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. He will be missed. Besides his wife, children and mother, he leaves his two sisters, Bonnie Timmerman, her husband Erik and their children, Alsacia and Freyja of Morrisville, VT, and Karen Skuba of West Hartford; and his cousin, Mark Livak of Fort Mill, SC. Chuck also leaves his in-laws, Edward and Lucille Pajer; his brothers-in-law, Robert Pajer (Lori) and Kenneth Pajer (Gail); his sisters-in-law, Denise Bessette (Ray), Annette Jung, and Cheryl Luba (Joe); and extended family.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford. Funeral services and burial at Fairview Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a trust that is to be established for the benefit of Chuck’s children.
