Obituary: Christopher L. Book, 70; West Hartford Native

Christopher started his career working for the Hartford National Bank until he later retired as Vice President for Bank of America.

Christopher L. Book, 70, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Carolyn J. Book, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Born in Cleveland, OH to the late Donald and Marguerite Book, he was raised in West Hartford and attended Conard High School. He also raised his daughter, Alexandra, in West Hartford and resided there for many years. He was a graduate from Oberlin College in Ohio and continued his studies to earn a master’s degree from Rensselaer in Hartford.

Christopher started his career working for the Hartford National Bank until he later retired as Vice President for Bank of America. Christopher graduated from the O.C.S. in Newport, RI, and served as Lt. JG for the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Lorain County (LST-1177) out of Little Creek, VA.

Chris was a lover of history and the sea, an avid sailor, swimmer, kayaker and biker, and a long-time member of Mystic Seaport.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Carolyn J. Book, a daughter Alexandra Goode and her husband, Troy of San Francisco, CA, and their children Parker and Audrey, a step-daughter Jennifer Phaedra Taft and her husband, Scott, and their children Nathaniel and Henry, and a brother Steven Book and his wife, Maureen of Napa, CA. He is also predeceased by his sister, Lisa.
