Edward John Potaski, 71, passed away peacefully at his home in West Hartford, CT, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Born in Hartford, CT and raised in Wethersfield, he was the son of the late Edward and Julia (Albro) Potaski. He graduated from Wethersfield High School and the Ward College of Technology at the University of Hartford.
Ed’s greatest passion was his family, but he was a very early adopter of computer technology and worked for IBM for most of his career. He was the resident family expert for all things technical, and delighted in finding new electronic and cutting-edge tools, gadgets and software, and had been not-so-patiently awaiting the delivery of his Tesla. He was a jack of all trades, loved discovering new music, had a wicked sense of humor that he passed on to his children, and was on a never ending quest to find the perfect tomato and perfectly ground and brewed cup of espresso.

Family was everything, and he leaves his best friend, his wife of 44 years, Maureen (Cassidy) Potaski, and their three children, Katherine Potaski of Brooklyn, NY, and her daughter, Corinne Moore (who was Ed’s only grandchild), Christopher Potaski of Tokyo, Japan, and Sarah Potaski of West Hartford. He also leaves his brother, Peter Potaski of Wethersfield, cousins Hisayo Czapla and Ellie Czapla, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Medical Center Smilow Cancer Center and Mt. Sinai Rehab Hospital for the outstanding care that Ed received during the past year. The family requests that donations be made to these organizations or the American Heart association.
