Obituary: Louise Widell Korder, 93, of West Hartford
She was also active with the Merry Weeder's Garden Club, the Junior Women's Club of West Hartford, and the Town and County Club.

Louise Widell Korder, a lifelong resident of West Hartford, died on December 11, 2017 following a brief illness. She was 93 years old. Louise was a 1942 graduate of Hall High School. After graduating from Hillyer Junior College in 1944, she worked at the JT Ryerson company both in Hartford and Cambridge, MA. She married Walter Korder in 1949.
The couple had two children, Bradford G. Korder, who still resides in West Hartford, and Karren K. Teren, who lives in Nashville, TN. Walter died in 2006. Louise was a 77-year member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, where she enjoyed working with the flower committee. An avid and accomplished golfer, she was a member of the Golf Club of Avon since 1962 as well as a member of the Connecticut Women’s Golf Association for twenty-nine years. She was also active with the Merry Weeder’s Garden Club, the Junior Women’s Club of West Hartford, and the Town and County Club for many years.

In addition to her son and daughter, Louise is survived by her five grandchildren: Lorenz, Mathias, and Camilla Korder and Gus and Maddie Teren, as well as two great-grandchildren: Tavi, and Luca Teren. Louise will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, a gracious host with many friends in the West Hartford area, and a generous donor to a number of charitable causes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday December 15, 2107 at First Church of Christ Congregational, 12 South Main St., West Hartford. A Private burial service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, West Hartford has care of arrangements.
