Rehanna Suleka “Pookie” Mungroo passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. She was a 2007 graduate of Conard High School, in West Harford, CT and in her earlier years, attended St. Brigid School, in West Hartford, CT. She was working at St. Francis Hospital as a Patient Care Technician, displaying a wonderful knack for caring for the sick.

Pookie truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, chatting with friends and family, snacking, and hanging out with her favorite people. Pookie had an uncanny ability of reaching people in a positive way. She is survived by her father, Joseph Mungroo; her mother Nazra Ali; her two sisters, Nisha and Saira Mungroo; her two half sisters and brother; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Pookie has touched are invited to the Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT on Friday, February 23rd from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course to just reflect on Pookie’s short, but incredible life’s journey.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24th at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 679 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Donations can be made in her name to the Humane Society or Homeless shelter of your choice in honor of her deep and altruistic nature, especially with respect to animals and the sick and suffering.
