He grew up in Wethersfield and began working at Hall’s Market in West Hartford at age 14 when his father bought the business from Franklin E. Hall. Ron and Betsey met working at the market in 1971, married in 1975, and owned and operated the market from 1981 to 2009, while raising their four children in West Hartford. The family spent summers at Chalker Beach in Old Saybrook. In 2009, Ron and Betsey retired as the third generation (Jennifer and David) took over the market.

He was a kind man, and a devoted, fun-loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend who will be profoundly missed. He was a member of Higganum Congregational Church, a great golfer, and an enthusiastic Patriots fan. Never able to sit still, he spent countless hours maintaining his award-worthy lawn. Ron would want you to do something kind for the other guy and be a good friend! Take care of each other.
