Several Youths Arrested After Fight In Westfarms Mall [UPDATED]

The mall was not shut down as a result of the incident, according to police.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A fight which took place during "a large juvenile presence" at the Westfarms Mall resulted in the arrest of several youths Thursday evening, according to West Hartford and Farmington police.

Several West Hartford and Farmington police officers responded to the mall as a precautionary measure due to the large crowd. While on scene, around 6:13 p.m., officers reported a fight in progress among juveniles. Police "quelled the disturbances and cleared the area at the request of Westfarms Mall security," West Hartford Lt. Daniel Moffo said.

Several youths were arrested and charged with interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct. They were issued juvenile summonses and released to the custody of parents, Moffo said.

West Hartford and Farmington police remained on scene to ensure the safety and security of mall patrons. The mall was not shut down as a result of the incident, Moffo said.
