Open House/Grand Opening Slated for June 1 in Northampton
Summer is a Critical Time for Many Students, Individualized Tutoring from Realized Learning Can Help

Realized Learning, a specialized tutoring service for elementary school-age children, is having an Open House/Grand Opening to launch their new location in downtown Northampton this Saturday, June 1 at 160 Main Street, Suite 5. The event will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The business is operated by Abby Forcier, a certified Elementary teacher in Massachusetts with experience as a public school teacher and reading specialist. She has run the highly regarded tutoring business since 2014, providing instruction for children who need support in foundational skills, organizing school work, or more rigorous study in specific subject areas. Services include private tutoring, reading assessments, and writing coaching, and she takes particular pride in motivating students to enjoy learning as they gain confidence. Forcier earned her B.A. at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and M. Ed. from Lesley University.
The new location, reflecting a move from Easthampton to Northampton, is right in the center of town – a more convenient location for students and parents, and a professional space that offers more resources for teaching students.

“I am looking forward to sharing this wonderful new location, and welcoming returning and new students,” said Forcier. “If your child is struggling with learning, I would love to talk with you and see how I can help!,” Souvenir gifts and refreshments will be provided during the Grand Opening on June 1.
Going Beyond Homework Help

Because of her background and experience as a learning specialist, Forcier is able to go beyond basic tutoring or homework help. She supports learners in all elementary subject areas and some secondary school subject areas by creating a customized, tailored program for each child. She specializes in math, writing instruction, and working with children who have reading challenges.
The Open House will include explanations of the individualized tutoring services available, and conversations to discuss specific questions that prospective students and their families may have. Forcier started the business to address the unique needs of children in various educational settings.
“Whether your child is home schooled, needs additional help, or has learning challenges, I can work with them to help build confidence in learning so they can reach their potential,” Forcier said. “Giving your child one-on-one specialized education is the best way to support a learner who feels they are falling behind, or one who feels bored and craves enrichment.”
Making the Most of Summer
Looking ahead to summer, and students who have had a challenging year and are looking to strengthen their skills prior to the next school year, Forcier says “teaching these students is some of the most rewarding work I get to do.”
“The reason I love doing this is because it’s an opportunity to show these children that they can be successful. It’s also a time and space that allows them to think and question without the fear of being compared, stigmatized, or embarrassed,” Forcier adds.
“When these students start to recognize their own progress and understanding, they are ecstatic! Getting something right feels good. For a child who has struggled through school, this can be a major confidence boost. It often changes their attitudes about learning. Students finish the summer feeling prepared for the upcoming school year, instead of feeling a sense of dread.”
Summer student tutoring sessions are currently being scheduled, and individualized plans and schedules can be developed at the Open House, or in follow-up conversations. Schedules are flexible, and can be made to work comfortably with parents work schedules and other commitments that students have.
A Passion for Building Student Confidence
Forcier has put her skills and passion to work in local public school classrooms, teaching various grade levels and subject areas, through grade six. While teaching in local public schools, she determined that “the best and most productive learning occurred in small groups and during one-on-one time. I also knew that students facing learning disabilities and those who struggled in a specific area most benefited from the individual attention and care. I wanted to reach more of these children and help them to regain their confidence.”
She sums up her philosophy this way: “I believe children should be guided to recognize their individual strengths instead of comparing themselves to others, and use their interests, skills, and knowledge to set learning goals, overcome challenges, and build independence.” That approach continues to achieve results for the students she works with.
