Opening Set For First Small-Format Target In Connecticut

Opening festivities are set for CT's first small-format Target store located in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Opening festivities have been scheduled for Target’s new Bishops Corner store, the retailer’s first small-format store in Connecticut.

The 59,000-square foot store is located in the Bishops Corner Shopping Center, at 333 N. Main St.

Target is targeting "new guests" nationwide by opening small-format stores in urban areas, dense suburban neighborhoods and near college campuses. Thee stores are designed to offer "an easy and convenient shopping experience in communities where a traditional-sized Target might not fit."

The Bishops Corner store offers "a product selection tailored for local residents, nearby working professionals and visitors – whether they’re craving something quick and easy, or running low on everyday items. Merchandise includes a curated assortment of food and beverage items, apparel and accessories for men, women and children, an assortment of health, personal care and beauty products, home essentials, seasonal merchandise, electronics and toys."

Services will include a CVS Pharmacy, order pickup (which allows guests to order items online and pick up in store within an hour) and drive-up (which allows guests to pick up online orders without getting out of their cars).

The Bishops Corner Target is employing about 100 team members.

Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 13: invitation-only sneak peek and ribbon cutting for officials at 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 18: grand ppening at 8 a.m. featuring an in-store celebration highlighting unique features and store departments for guests. Complimentary reusable bags will be distributed to early arriving guests.
