Parents Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable!
Learn how to do this now. And you won't regret what could have been... You're kids deserve it.
When I was in the Army, I was often physically uncomfortable from the heavy helmet on my head to the rumbling in my belly and the blisters on my feet. I didn’t know it at the time, but being uncomfortable was a life-long lesson about improving oneself in the making. The Army even had a saying that went like this, “If you’re comfortable, then you’re wrong!”
Although my lessons began in the physical realm of being uncomfortable, most of the lessons that I learned in the Army that I would use in my future didn’t stay in the physical realm with being just cold, tired, and hungry. After my service days, the future lessons from this little Army saying of being wrong if you’re comfortable came mostly from being mentally, psychologically, intellectually, or even socially uncomfortable in the civilian world where nobody was shooting at me anymore.
Athletes know growth occurs when one pushes past their comfort zones. This phenomenon of growth also pertains to parents. Parenting is a learning experience that requires massive growth and thus forces massive growth upon us. It just makes sense that if something forces us to grow as a person, then it isn’t always going to be comfortable. As a matter of fact, many times, it’s going to be uncomfortable or even painful like forced reps are in the gym when one is really pushing their limits. Parenting forces us to push our limits and grow a lot, too. So parenting is going to make us uncomfortable a lot.

Hey, if parenting isn’t occasionally making us uncomfortable, then we’re really not doing all that we can do to grow into higher quality people and higher quality parents that our kids truly deserve! Trust me. It’s a good thing.
