Crash Victims To Be Honored At West Hartford/Simsbury Rinks: UPDATE

The short remembrance vigil will take place on the ice at multiple ice skating facilities nationally, including West Hartford and Simsbury.

WEST HARTFORDSIMSBURY, CT — The area skating community is coming together at Veterans Memorial Ice Rink in West Hartford and at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury to remember the lives lost at last week's aviation disaster over Washington, D.C.

The collision between a jetliner and a military helicopter on Jan. 29 claimed 67 lives, including two Russian skating legends with close ties to nearby Simsbury and the ice skating center in that town.

As a result, a special vigil for skating victims of American Airlines 5342 will take place Monday, Feb. 3, from 3:35 to 3:40 p.m. for on-ice vigils to "honor the lives and legacies of the victims of the recent American Airlines Flight 5342 disaster."
