Prepare For Disaster At West Hartford Event

WEST HARTFORD, CT — September is National Preparedness Month and the Town of West Hartford will host an event Saturday aimed at educating the public should disaster strike.

The town's "Community Preparedness Day" is on Saturday, Sept. 7, to encourage individuals and families to plan and prepare for any natural and manmade disaster.

It will be held in the West Hartford Town Hall parking lot, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event features preparedness information, free giveaways, demonstrations, Touch a Truck, and a free raffle for a “Go Bag” full of emergency supplies.

Residents can also register for the town’s emergency notifications and get a flu shot.

Attendees can learn more about West Hartford’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and register for the free fall five-week basic training class, which begins Saturday, Oct. 12.
