Regional Home Hazwaste Collection Is Sunday In West Hartford
It is for Bloomfield, East Granby, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Folks looking to unload those containers of hazardous household waste should come to West Hartford on Sunday to safely dispose of them
The Hartford-based Metropolitan District of Connecticut (aka "MDC") is hosting a regional household hazardous waste collection for its 10 member towns in the greater Hartford area.
It will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Hartford Public Works Garage, 17 Brixton St., West Hartford.

It is open to residents of the member towns of Bloomfield, East Granby, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor, and Windsor Locks.
The household hazardous waste collection is free and open to MDC member communities.

"Collect your household waste items in their original containers, place them in a box, and bring them to the collection site on June 2, and MDC will handle the rest," wrote event organizers.
"The entrance is at the end of Oakwood Avenue just past Brixton Street. There will be ample signage. Remember to bring your ID."
Typical items brought are kitchen cleaners, garage and workshop chemicals, yard insecticides, and hobby solvents, among others. View the complete list.
Residents of all member towns can take household hazardous waste to any MDC collection event in the region.

The next MDC collection event is June 22 at Wethersfield's Webb Elementary School, 51 Willow St., Wethersfield
West Hartford will next host a collection on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the public works garage.
The MDC offers the following tips to residents disposing of household hazardous waste:
• Do not mix different products.
• Do not smoke in your car or near the collection area.
• Be prepared to wait between 5 and 30 minutes. Bring something to read for yourself and a game or toy to entertain your child.
