Residents Rally Around Historic West Hartford Home
A developer plans to demolish the 1918 bungalow to build two new homes.

Several residents and historic properties experts came out to a public hearing Monday night to speak in support of preserving a 1918 Craftsman-style bungalow in West Hartford that is slated to be demolished, according to the Hartford Courant.
The Courant reports that developer Reinhard von Hollander has notified the historic district commission that he intends to demolish the existing 2,700-square-foot home at 2022 Albany Avenue and plans on building two new homes, which he has received zoning approval for.
Town ordinance requires developers to wait 90 days before demolition to give the historic district commission time to assess a property’s historic significance, according to the Courant.
