Restaurant Denied Liquor License In West Hartford
The controversial restaurant has been the source of numerous complaints from neighbors. The liquor commission announced its decision Friday.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Los Imperios restaurant in West Hartford was denied the renewal of its liquor license, the state Liquor Control Commission at the Department of Consumer Protection announced on Friday, WFSB 3 reports.
The restaurant has been the source of numerous complaints from neighbors. A hearing was held on the liquor license renewal on Nov. 30.
West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor testified during the hearing and said that Los Imperios is a “nuisance and danger” to the community, according to the Memorandum of Decision on Los Imperios. Cantor testified that the premise is supposed to be a restaurant but operates as a bar and nightclub, which the town of West Hartford doesn’t permit.

“Mayor Cantor stated that there have been numerous fights and assaults inside and outside the premise, underage drinking, and violations of a prior settlement agreement with the DCP’s Liquor Control Division,” the Memorandum of Decision states. “She also stated that the premise is in violation of West Hartford’s entertainment ordinance. She spoke to the drain on police resources and the costs to the town that Los Imperios has caused.”
In its conclusion, the Liquor Control Commission wrote that they found “substantial evidence to deny this restaurant liquor permit renewal application and we find the location and Permittee to be unsuitable for a liquor restaurant permit. Based upon the testimony it appears the premise is a bar and nightclub and not a restaurant in accordance with the permit application.”
