Retired West Hartford Firefighter Badly Hurt In Off-Duty Accident
The ex-WHFD and current New London firefighter is the beneficiary of a GoFundMe page where donations are being sought.
WEST HARTFORD/NEW LONDON, CT — Local firefighters are asking for the community's help to raise money for a retired West Hartford Fire Department firefighter who was badly hurt in New Hampshire.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for former WHFD member Dave Skau, who currently works for the New London Fire Department.
According to West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241, Skau was injured in a recent, off-duty accident.

"Please consider donating to help in this time of need," wrote the firefighters union.
The goal of the fundraising campaign is $15,000 and, as of Friday night, $4,335 has been raised.

According to the GoFundMe page, which was created by the New London County Peer Support Group, Skau has had "numerous surgeries at a Concord hospital in New Hampshire."
"Dave has a lengthy recovery ahead of him and will be out of work for a considerable amount of time," reads the GoFundMe page.
"He is the kind of guy that would do anything for anyone, a providing and loving family man, and an all-around great guy."
