Driver Charged In Moped Vs. Car Crash In West Hartford, Police Say

One person was injured and a driver is facing charges following the crash, according to police.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A moped rider was injured in a crash with a car Thursday in West Hartford, according to police. The car's driver is now facing charges.

Police, firefighters, and EMS responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and New Park Avenue at 9:26 p.m.

Everyone involved remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

First responders provided medical aid, and the moped's operator was taken to an area hospital. The person did not suffer serious or life-threatening injuries.

The West Hartford Police Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the accident.

The intersection was closed to traffic due to the investigation and reopened around 2 a.m. Friday.

Police said in a statement Friday that the car's driver has been charged.

Fabrizzo Andres Gutierrez Medina, 24, of Hartford, was charged with driving under the influence, weapons in a motor vehicle, and failure to yield right of way.

He was held on $200,000 bond and was scheduled for arraignment Friday.
