Robbery Suspect Drops Wallet At Scene, Ends Up In Jail

West Hartford Police charged three men in connection to the armed robbery of a Mobil gas station and say they are suspects in other crimes.

With the assistance of a cell phone tracker and a robbery suspect who dropped his wallet at the crime scene, West Hartford Police located and arrested three men in connection to the armed robbery of a Mobil gas station.

Police charged Timothy Warren, 49, Keith Warren, 37, and Randal Michaels, 32, with the robbery and said they are also suspects in other crimes in West Hartford.

Police responded to the Mobil at 55 Kane Street around 9 a.m. on Monday morning on the report of a robbery at gunpoint.

Among the items stolen was the victim’s iPhone that was equipped with the track my iPhone application, police said.

Police also said that Michaels’ wallet fell out of his pocket while he climbed off the counter during the robbery and the ID showed his address as 24 Merrill Street, which is also the area where tracker showed the phone to be.

The suspects were thought to be operating a black Nissan with a Florida registration plate, which was located in the rear lot of the apartment building with clothing described by the victim in plain view.

The three suspects were located in an apartment within the building. A protective sweep revealed evidence of the robbery in plain view, according to police. The victim also identified two of the three suspects.

Michaels arrested on charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny, brandishing a facsimile firearm and carrying a dangerous weapon.

Police said the gun was a facsimile but looked like a real semi-automatic firearm.

Michaels was held on $350,000 bond.
