Sears Building Demolished to Make Way for New Shops, Restaurants in West Hartford

Crews are working in preparation for a development that will bring new shops and restaurants​ to the area.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Demolition is underway at the old Sears building in West Hartford, NBC Connecticut. The Corbins Corner building is being cleared away to make room for some new developments.

Demolition crews worked at the New Britain Avenue retail complex Wednesday to clear the former site of the West Hartford Sears store and Sears Automotive Center, according to NBC Connecticut. The crews are working in preparation for a development that will bring new shops and restaurants to the area.

Project officials have listed an REI store, Saks Off 5th, Shake Shack and more as part of the planned development, NBC Connecticut reported. Another public hearing is scheduled for June 13 for approval to modify the façade of the building.
