Serial Robbery Suspect Arrested In West Hartford: UPDATE

A suspect was developed by detectives conducting a neighborhood canvass and was later taken into custody at his home, according to police.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — In a Thursday night update, West Hartford Police said a suspect was arrested in connection to a string of robberies at the Sunoco Station on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. A suspect was developed by detectives conducting a neighborhood canvass, according to police. The suspect was located and taken into custody at his home without incident, police said.

The suspect, identified as Robert Escobar, was charged for the most recent robbery, which occurred on Nov. 29.

Escobar, 62, of Oxford Street in Hartford, was arrested on charges of first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was held on a $100,000 bond.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The Sunoco Station located at 669 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford has been robbed four times since June, including twice this month, and police believe all of the robberies have been committed by the same suspect. The most recent robbery occurred on Wednesday. Police are asking for assistance with identifying the suspect.

The suspect is believed to be a Hispanic male in his 40s to 50s, according to Lt. Michael Perruccio. He appeared to have a tattoo on his left forearm in the first robbery.

Perruccio said the suspect may live somewhere in the area north of Farmington Avenue/North Beacon Street because he has been seen fleeing in that direction on foot multiple times. In each case the suspect has implied he was armed with a gun.
