‘Severely Neglected’ Dog Needs Special Home: West Hartford Animal Control
"Finley" is described as a gentle dog who everyone fell in love with while he was at the vet hospital for treatment.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford Animal Control is looking to find a special home for Finley, who was recently found roaming near a busy street.
Finley seemed disoriented and severely neglected when he was found, but is doing much better now, according to animal control officials.
“With half his hair missing, matted fur and limping, Finley has spent the last few days at the veterinary hospital to recuperate,”animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “It wasn't a surprise that everyone at the vet hospital fell in love with this big gentle dog. Although still somewhat depressed, Finley is back at our facility and doing much better. He is on medication to treat his skin condition and Lyme disease.
“Finley is a special dog that deserves a special home. He is in his senior years and is likely about 10 years old. He is quiet and somewhat aloof. He loves food and snacks. He does not require a lot of attention but he enjoys your company. This is probably because he spent many of his years alone. Finley would need an equally quiet home with a low activity level. He may benefit from another low key, mellow dog around. Finley's ideal home may be where he can hang out with his family or in a sunny yard, and learn to enjoy life. He would love a large dog bed where he could take long peaceful naps.
“If you believe you could offer this very special dog a loving home, please contact us at West Hartford Animal Control 860-570-8818 or email Animalcontrol@westhartfordct.gov.”
