Shakespeare Fest Opens This Week In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Doth now thinketh it's time to journey to West Hartford for some theatrical entertainment?

The Greater Hartford Shakespeare Festival returns this week with four weeks of rotating performances featuring two of William Shakespeare's best-known works on the University of Saint Joseph campus in West Hartford.

Presented by Capital Classics Theatre Co., this year's festival will stage 20 performances across two productions: "Measure for Measure," running July 8 through Aug. 1, and "A Midsummer Night's Dream," running July 9 through Aug. 2.

To meet growing audience demand, organizers have expanded the festival schedule to include 10 performances of each production, with shows taking place Wednesday through Sunday evenings over four weeks.

Performances will be held on the University of Saint Joseph campus in West Hartford, 1678 Asylum Ave.

The university will offer food and beverages beginning 90 minutes before each performance, allowing patrons to arrive early and enjoy refreshments before the shows begin.
