If you have ever practiced Yoga, then you will realize there is no sitting pose for health that mimics how you would sit in an office chair. There are TREE poses, anti-disease pose, and child's pose for example. There is NEVER a sit at an office chair pose. Why?
Because...
- Sitting reduces your lung capacity. Every cell in your body needs oxygen and sitting reduces your bodies ability to use oxygen.
- Sitting puts tremendous harsh pressures on your spinal discs.
- Sitting reduces your hip flexor muscles, also contributes to low back pain.
- Sitting increases your likelihood of AHS (Anterior head Syndrome). AHS's hallmark is a neck that is outstretched too far anterior or forward and leads to neck pain, headaches, and numbness in hands.
- Sitting also weakens your abs and butt.
- Sitting is not good for circulation
- Get up and move around on the half hour
- Get a stand up desk
- Find reasons to stand while you work
- anything but sitting, it is really that bad.
Just because you work out daily does not counter the harmful affect sitting has on your body.Just like you can't out train a bad diet, you can't out exercise excessive sitting.
Have a great day!
