Smart Parenting!

Learn how to weather the storms of parenting and child rearing better. We are all capable of going head first into these tumultous times.

Parents, we all know how tough parenting can be. We all get jammed up every once in a while in the parenting world. We all wonder how the heck we arrived at such a precarious place, huh? Sometimes we wonder what we did to deserve so much craziness in our lives. Is this some kind of cruel punishment from our Creator? Maybe it’s payback for what we put our own parents through, and now it’s coming full circle.

To be honest with you, I don’t claim to know the answers to any of these questions. But, I’m going to guess that if we are smart enough, we will look at the difficulties facing us as new parents as just part of the journey. We need to confront them as nothing more than only seasons of our lives that will come and go, even if these seasons do perhaps come whirling into our lives like a storm. But, like all storms, real or not, our parenting challenges will eventually end. And everything will even out again, leaving us with nothing but smooth sailing… at least for a little while.

Now, let’s remember what my Granddaddy always said, “Go learn, lead and lay the way to a better world for all of us. Let’s not get swept up and washed away in the seasonal storms of parenting. Let’s just be smart about it and keep our emotional composure and emotional intelligence in check, so we don’t lose our way. The last thing we want to do is to lose our sanity and accidentally crash and destroy our precious relationships with our children. Remember that it’s just another season of our lives and only one more storm with a beginning and an ending. It will end. I promise you. Through smart parenting, we better assure our chances of us and our children heading into the next storm, or even the following season, hand-in-hand, together as a team that can weather anything and outlasts everything. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
