Connecticut Weather: No Real Snow Accumulation Expected Now: UPDATE
The snow will be a non-factor this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday night plans.

UPDATE 6 P.M.: You may see some snowflakes tonight but don't worry it's not going to add up to anything significant. Enjoy your weekend plans.
A day ago we were looking at the possibility of a few inches of snow accumulation in Connecticut late Saturday into Sunday morning, and now, well maybe a coating or so of snow in some spots. That's it. The National Weather Service dropped its Hazardous Weather Outlook for southern Connecticut that it had issued earlier on Saturday.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone says the weather system is going to remain too far offshore to produce any real accumulation for Connecticut. Some areas of the state may see snow showers most likely after 7 p.m. and into the overnight. But only a coating is expected in areas that actually see snowflakes.

You may not need that shovel after all today. That’s good news if you don’t like snow as the snow accumulation estimates have been significantly downgraded for Connecticut.

After parts of the state saw a blizzard on Tuesday, likely the last thing we wanted to deal with was more accumulating snow. The snow forecast this weekend has been a complicated one as meteorologists around the state waited until yesterday evening to make predictions.
Most meteorologists were forecasting 2 to 4 inches for most of the state for Saturday night into early Sunday and New London County could have received up to six inches.
But this morning those estimates are out the window and what we’re left with really isn’t that much. The National Weather Service is predicting 1 to 3 inches is possible for all of southern Connecticut, which includes Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties. A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued here.
For Hartford and Tolland counties, what snow? Well you could still see up to an inch of snow there. (To signup and receive free news and weather alerts from your hometown in Connecticut click here.)
Connecticut’s meteorologists are downplaying the snow accumulation even more than the National Weather Service.
WFSB 3 Meteorologist Mike Cameron wrote for WFSB that Connecticut may see some very light and sporadic snow during the day Saturday but temps will also be above the freezing mark. Temps drop at night and whatever light snow is falling will stick but Cameron is now predicting a coating to two inches of snow. He said some isolated areas may see three inches.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone wrote for News 8 that this will be “very light snow” and it’s expected overnight tonight and it’s out of the area on Sunday morning.
“We’re not expecting much accumulation from this one,” Arnone wrote. Arnone is only predicting a coating to an inch tops.
Here’s the updated weekend forecast from the National Weather Service:
Today: Some sporadic light snow and rain during the day, temps near 40. Light snow is possible this evening with minor accumulation expected. Temps just below the freezing mark.
Sunday: Snow wraps up by mid morning. Temps rebound to around 40 degrees. Windy with gusts between 15 to 25 mph and some approaching 35 mph at times. Temps drop back into the low to mid 20s at night.
After this there are no real snow chances in the forecast but the first week of spring weather looks chilly with temps in the low to mid 40s. There is a chance of some snow and rain next Friday.
