Spend Presidents Day In West Hartford With Air Force Singers

The U.S. Air Force's 'Singing Sergeants' will perform a free show in West Hartford Monday.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Looking for a nice way to cap off a Monday evening holiday that celebrates democracy and history?

Why not spend Presidents Day by celebrating freedom with the U.S. Air Force's "Singing Sergeants."

The acclaimed singing group from the "Wild Blue Yonder" will perform a free concert in West Hartford at St. James Epicopal Church on Monday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m.

The show will take place at the 1018 Farmington Ave. church.

According to the U.S. Air Force's website, the "Singing Sergeants" dates back to 1945 at the end of World War II, when it was born out of the then-U.S. Army Air Corps.

The singing group is actually a component of the U.S. Air Force Band and, according to its online biography, its "mission is to HONOR those who have served, INSPIRE American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and CONNECT with the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States."
