State PD to Increase Traffic Enforcement in West Hartford

The increased enforcement will take place between Dec. 19 and January 3.

State Police will be patrolling the highways in West Hartford as part of increased enforcement during the holiday season.

Police have launched the annual holiday enforcement program nicknamed Operation S.A.N.T.A. (Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident) to curtail dangerous driving behavior.

The focus will be to rid the state roads and highways of drivers who drive under the influence, speed and fail to wear seatbelts.

“Our state troopers are trying to save lives and keep all of our roads and highways safe,” said Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Dora Schriro, Remember mixing alcohol with driving any vehicle is a dangerous combination for everyone, and illegal in our state”

Police encourage anyone who spots a suspected drunk driver to report it by calling 911.

Roving patrols will be in place on I-84 and I-91 in West Hartford between Dec. 19 and Jan. 3.
