Suspect in Stolen Car Causes Roll Over Accident in West Hartford During Police Chase

Officers reported the suspect had struck a police cruiser prior to causing the roll over.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Police said an early afternoon vehicular chase ended in Bloomfield not long after a car caused a roll over accident in West Hartford.

On Wednesday around noon, police said Hartford officers were in pursuit of a stolen 2013 Acura. Officers reported the Acura had struck a police cruiser in Hartford during the incident.

The pursuit continued on several roads in West Hartford, including Park Road, North Quaker Lane, Asylum Avenue and Fern Street.

At one point the suspect drove through a red light and crashed into a Toyota Corolla driving along North Main Street. The Toyota had a green light.

Police said the front end of the Acura hit the right rear corner of the Toyota, causing the driver to lose control and hit a curb before rolling onto its side.

The victim, 79-year old Marvin Kay of West Hartford, was helped out of his car and treated for minor injuries at the scene. He was then transported to St. Francis Hospital.

The suspect, meanwhile, fled from the scene of the accident but was soon stopped on Simsbury Road in Bloomfield. He was subsequently arrested.

Police have not released the identity of the suspect driver at this time.
