Thanksgiving 2023: What's Open? What's Closed In West Hartford
The Town of West Hartford has released information about local impacts of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local officials have announced this week's Thanksgiving holiday impacts on town/school operations.
Municipal offices, senior centers, community centers, recreation facilities and libraries will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Meanwhile, West Hartford Public Schools are closed on Thursday and Friday, reopening as normal on Monday, Nov. 27.
West Hartford Reservoir, located at 1420 Farmington Avenue, and Reservoir #6, located off Route 44/Albany Avenue in West Hartford, will be closed on Thanksgiving.

Trash Impacts
Due to the Thanksgiving, the collection of trash, “B” week recycling, and bulky/metal collections will be delayed one day after the holiday.
The normal Thursday collection will be done on Friday, Nov. 24, and Friday's collection will be done on Saturday, Nov. 25.
No other collection days are affected during this holiday week or the following week.

Library hours
As for West Hartford's public library branches, they will all be closing early at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and will remain closed on Thanksgiving.

On Friday, Nov. 24, the following facilities will be closed:
- Elmwood Senior Center
- Bishops Corner Senior Center
- Elmwood Community Center
- West Hartford Public Schools administrative offices
What's open Friday?
On Friday, Nov. 24, the following facilities will be open:
- Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Bishops Corner and Faxon libraries are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- West Hartford Town Hall, 50 South Main St., 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Yard Waste & Recycling Center, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon.
- Recreation facilities will be open, including Skating Rink, Westmoor Park and Cornerstone Aquatics Center. Visit the websites for hours of operation.
