Thousands Pack West Hartford Town Hall Meeting Held by Senator Chris Murphy

A man toted a "Chris Murphy for President" sign as the senator held a town meeting in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Thousands turned out to West Hartford Town Hall on Tuesday to hear Senator Chris Murphy's remarks and answers to questions concerning the current political climate, according to media reports.

During his talk, Murphy touched on a variety of topics and took questions from those in attendance, Fox 61 reported. Officials said 2,000 people in total were in attendance, including those in the main hall, the overflow room and those outside who were unable to enter due to fire codes.

One man even showed up toting a sign that read "Chris Murphy for President," We-Ha.com reported. He expressed an opinion that the country was one step away from tyranny and implored the senator to come up with something better that could be done in opposition.

Murphy told people in attendance that his fight against the Trump Administration has not fallen upon deaf ears in Congress, and said he has many friends who are Republicans that are not in support of recent rulings, according to Fox 61. He also said that silence among Republicans should not be taken as a permanent stance this early in the game.
