The child, who was wearing only a T-shirt and a diaper, was found outside in the cold early Wednesday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT -- A 2-year-old boy was taken to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for evaluation after being found wandering the streets alone Wednesday morning in West Hartford. The boy, who was wearing only a diaper and a T-shirt, was found outside in the cold at about 6:25 a.m. by a resident on Hillcrest Avenue at Stevens Street.
Police said no one in the immediate area recognized the child and he was taken to CCMC as a precaution. A short time later, students from the neighborhood were shown a picture of the boy and immediately recognized him, according to police.
Police located the child’s family at an apartment on Stevens Street. While speaking to police, the family had just realized that the boy was not in the apartment. No one, including the present adults, realized that the toddler had apparently exited the house and walked down the street, according to police.
