Update: Enfield Man Charged After Wreaking Havoc in West Hartford

Adam Puzon, 40, was arrested following an early-morning drunk driving incident in which he crashed into several buildings and other objects.

An Enfield man was arrested Tuesday morning after wreaking havoc in West Hartford while driving his company’s truck under the influence.

Adam Puzon, 40, of Enfield, was driving a truck from Advanced Scaffold Services of West Hartford, when he struck a building and other objects. Police said he had permission to use the truck.

Early this morning, the West Hartford Police Department was alerted by the Hartford Police to be on the lookout for a truck involved in a hit-and-run, according to a police press release.

Police said the suspect vehicle had struck a fire hydrant and two utility poles on New Park Avenue. At about 6 a.m., West Hartford police received a call from a resident of 755 Farmington Avenue that a truck was causing extensive damage to the building there.

An AMR paramedic saw the suspect truck being driven south on Arnoldale Road and alerted West Hartford officers.

West Hartford officers spotted the truck being driven west on Park Road. Police said the truck had obvious extensive damage to the front end and the right front tire was missing.

Officers followed the truck west on Park Road and north on Trout Brook Drive until it pulled into the north driveway of the Kingswood-Oxford school.

Police then arrested Puzon without further incident.

Police said that “thankfully and miraculously” there were no injuries from Puzon’s reckless conduct.

Puzon is also accused of driving through two solid red lights.

Police said there is extensive damage to the east side wall of the building at 755 Farmington Avenue and damage to the interior of the apartment. A parked car, a 2009 Honda Accord, was also heavily damaged and there was minor damage to two other buildings on the same lot.

The truck left a wide trail of fluid and left its right front tire on Farmington Avenue. The front end of the truck, a 2008 Hino flatbed, was destroyed.

Puzon was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, two counts of failure to obey control signal, failure to drive right, two counts of failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, six counts of evading responsibility, failure to yield to emergency vehicles, four counts of first-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Puzon is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
