Update: One Dead In Hit-And-Run Accident In West Hartford

The motorist who hit the pedestrian has fled the scene, possibly in a white sedan: WHPD.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — One person is dead Tuesday evening after being struck by car at a local intersection with police still searching for the motorist responsible.

The West Hartford Police Department said, just before 5 p.m. Tuesday, WHPD personnel were called to a car-vs.-pedestrian accident near the intersection of Boulevard and Whiting Lane.

Police said, upon arrival, medical care was provided to the pedestrian.

"Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision," said the WHPD in a statement Tuesday evening. The victim was not identified.

The WHPD said the vehicle involved in the accident left the scene and has not yet been located.

"Initial investigative efforts suggest that the evading vehicle may have been a white sedan," police said.

Investigators remain on scene and the road closures were still in place as of 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

All east and west bound traffic on Boulevard between South Quaker Lane and Arnoldale Road has been detoured, along with all north and south bound traffic on Whiting Lane in between Farmington Avenue and Park Road, police said.

The West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident.

"Until the roadways are reopened, we encourage pedestrians and motorists to seek alternate routes through the area," wrote police.
