No Contest In 5th Senate

The 5th Senate District covers West Hartford, Burlington and parts of Farmington and Bloomfield.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — State Sen. Derek Slap, D-West Hartford, will have nothing to worry about on Tuesday while the rest of the state goes to the polls.

He's guaranteed another term serving the 5th Senate District, which covers West Hartford, Burlington and parts of Farmington and Bloomfield.

The Republican party did not come up with a hopeful to challenge Slap.

According to his online biography, Slap was elected in the special election on Feb. 26, 2019 to represent the 98,000 residents district.

He had previously served one term as state representative for the 19th House District, serving constituents in West Hartford, Avon and Bloomfield.

He lives in West Hartford with his wife, Alex, daughters Maggie and Zoe, and son, Charlie.

He is Vice President of Advancement at The Village for Families and Children, working to support families and communities in Greater Hartford.
