Valvoline Temporarily Closes In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Valvoline Instant Oil Change, located at 1249 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford, temporarily closed this week while ExxonMobil conducts an environmental cleanup of a former Mobil gas station. Valvoline is expected to be closed for about six to eight weeks due to the project, company officials said in a press release. Six other businesses in the location will also be affected.

Exxon Mobil has been directed by the State of Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection to remediate a soil contamination issue left by the previous tenant, a Mobil gas station, Valvoline officials said.

The parking lot area of the retail complex at 1249 Farmington Avenue will be excavated and replaced as part of the soil remediation project. This effort will require the Valvoline Instant Oil Change service center to close for the duration of the project because the service bays will be inaccessible.
