VATCH: Hall HS Wins State Hockey Title In Thrilling Fashion
Hall High captured the CIAC Division III hockey title with an overtime win over E.O. Smith/Tolland.

WEST HARTFORD/HAMDEN, CT — Hall High School captured its first boys ice hockey state championship in more than three decades Thursday night, defeating E.O. Smith/Tolland 2-1 in overtime to win the CIAC Division III title.
The championship game, held at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, ended dramatically as Hall secured the sudden-death victory against a strong E.O. Smith/Tolland squad.
The win marks Hall’s first state title since 1993.

Both teams battled through a tightly contested game, with neither side able to gain a decisive edge in regulation. The 1-1 score held through the third period, forcing overtime.
In the extra period, Hall broke through for the game-winning goal, sealing the program’s long-awaited return to the top.

E.O. Smith/Tolland, which entered the final as a formidable opponent, pushed Hall throughout the game but fell just short in the closing moments.
The victory caps a significant milestone for Hall’s hockey program, ending a 30-plus-year championship drought and delivering a title in one of the state’s most competitive divisions.
