Veteran West Hartford Educator Taking Ellington Admin Position

A veteran West Hartford teacher has been named to an administrative position in Ellington.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A veteran West Hartford teacher has been named one of two new assistant principals at Ellington High School.

Officials in Ellington announced this week that Marc Richard is heading there from the West Hartford public school system, where he served as a science teacher at Conard High School for 20 years.

Richard earned a Bachelors in Meteorology from Lyndon State College in Vermont, a Masters in Earth Science from Mississippi State University and a 6th Year in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.

Ellington received applications from 93 people interested in the positions, and 23 candidates received a screening interview. Eleven candidates interviewed with a search committee comprised of administration, a Board of Education member, teachers, support staff, a parent and student. Five finalists then interviewed with the administrative team, the Board of Education, the high school principal and the superintendent for three additional interviews.
