Volunteers Sought To Collect Flags At West Hartford Cemetery
The local American Legion is hosting a collection effort on Saturday, Nov. 16, to pick up and store 1,200 flags following Veterans Day.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local veterans are looking for volunteers Saturday to help them collect and store all of the American flags placed on veterans' gravesites for Veterans Day observances.
American Legion Hayes-Velhage Post 96 is seeking helpers to show up at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford, and lend a helping hand.
The collection effort is at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Those small American flags and flag holders placed on veterans gravesites last Saturday must be collected, stored, and used again on Memorial Day.
Volunteers are asked to assemble at 8:30 a.m. at the chapel's garage bay for instructions beforehand. No RSVP is needed.

The more volunteers who show up, the less work there is for all.
In all, the American Legion said there are more than 1,200 military graves in Fairview Cemetery.
