Webster House's Biggest Fundraiser Slated For May 14; Online Auction Starts
The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society's 'War of the Words' is back with trivia, dinner, and an auction.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Tickets are on sale now, and the bidding has already started with one of the local community's biggest fundraising events.
The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society will host its annual “War of the Words” fundraiser on Thursday, May 14, at the Elizabeth Park Pond House Garden Room, 1555 Asylum Ave., West Hartford.
This major fundraiser brings a trivia competition, dinner, and auction to support the local history institution.

The event, billed as the museum’s signature fundraiser, will feature teams competing in a trivia contest emceed by Peter Sokolowski.
Organizers said up to 14 teams will participate, with each table acting as its own team and competing for the title of “Trivia Champion 2026.”

Attendees can purchase individual tickets and be assigned to a team or register as a group of up to eight.
In addition to the competition, guests will be served a full meal prepared by the Pond House Café, including hors d’oeuvres, pasta, entrees, dessert, and beverages, along with an open bar featuring beer and wine.
A live online auction will run in conjunction with the event, with bidding available before, during, and after the program.
Bidding for that auction has already started.
Organizers say the trivia contest will include questions spanning language, history, and local topics, with prizes awarded to top-performing teams in the final round.
The fundraiser is intended to support the museum’s programming and operations while offering a community-centered event in one of West Hartford’s most prominent park settings.
The museum, 227 S. Main St., is open to the public: Monday - Friday, 1 to 4 p.m.Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.The office staff is available: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 860-521-5362.
