WeHa DPW Open Some Saturdays To Sell Yard Waste Permits

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local public works office is expanding its hours this fall so folks can get the necessary permits to legally dispose of all that autumn yard waste.

The West Hartford Public Works Office, 17 Brixton St., West Hartford, will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on four Saturdays so residents can obtain an annual yard waste and recycling permit.

The dates are Sept. 7, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, and Oct. 26.

Permits may be purchased online or in person.

If purchased online, bring the receipt, vehicle registration, and driver’s license.

If purchased in person, provide a credit card, vehicle registration, and driver’s license.

Permits may also be picked up and purchased at the DPW office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday.

The office is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

Commercial or out-of-town vehicles are not allowed.

The West Hartford Yard Waste and Recycling Center allows residents to dispose of and recycle items such as textiles, books, scrap metal, paint, electronics (anything with a plug and no Freon), mattresses, mercury thermostats, brush, leaves, clean fill, concrete rubble, and household recycling: plastic bottles, containers, tubs, and single-use cups; glass, cardboard, boxboard, paper, and metal containers (cans, aluminum foil, foil containers, food grade aerosol containers).
