WEST HARTFORD, CT —Now that the calendar has turned the page to October, its time for folks to start thinking about how they will celebrate the Halloween season.
And what better way than to take a scary, historical and educational tour courtesy of the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society? Tickets are on sale now.
History, story-telling and spooky fun await guests this month at "West Hartford Hauntings," theatrical cemetery tours hosted by the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society.

The lantern-lit tours traverse one of West Hartford’s oldest burial grounds, The Old North Cemetery (c. 1790), located at 80 N. Main St., West Hartford.
During the tour, guests "will meet dearly departed residents of the town who have returned to enlighten you about the past."

Each year, the Noah Webster House creates storylines for West Hartford Hauntings based on research conducted on the lives – and deaths – of past residents.
The "guide" this year is Mrs. Emily Webster Ellsworth, daughter of Noah Webster, who was born in 1790.
West Hartford Hauntings will offer six performance dates to the public— October 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28 at Old North Cemetery, 80 N. Main St.
Tours leave every 15 minutes from 6 to 8:45 p.m. and run for 45 minutes.
Noah Webster House members will receive a discounted ticket price. The 6 p.m. tour on Oct. 21 will be American Sign Language interpreted.
West Hartford Hauntings takes place regardless of rain, snow or shine so guests should dress for the weather. Tickets are non-refundable. Arrive early to the show to purchase refreshments and a limited offering of gift shop and West Hartford Hauntings-related merchandise.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Discounted tickets are available for museum members and groups of 10 or more. Due to some frightening content, West Hartford Hauntings is recommended for ages 10 and up.
