WeHa Program To Emphasize Exercise For Senior Citizens

The event will take place on Friday, March 22, at the Elmwood Community Center.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A special program will take place Friday, March 22, that would go a long way toward helping the elderly get around and stay strong.

The town is hosting the "Older Adult Strengthening Program" at the Elmwood Community Center, 1106 New Britain Ave., West Hartford, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Community partners for the program are the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District and the University of Hartford’s Department of Physical Therapy.

The program will guide participants through five key exercises geared toward seniors. They are:

• Sit to stand

• Standing leg curls

• Standing side hip raises

• Standing heel raises

• Seated knee extensions

To register for the program, call 860-561-7914, but walk-ins are also welcome.
