WeHa Schools To Close Early Due To Heat
The decision will keep West Hartford students out of the buildings during the warmest part of the day Thursday.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford School system announced Wednesday that it will dismiss early on Thursday due to the early September heat wave this week.
The early dismissal will be on Thursday, Sept. 7, when temperatures are expected into the 90s with high humidity.
According to the school system, West Hartford's high schools will dismiss at 10:30 a.m.; middle schools at 11 a.m.; and all elementary schools will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.

This is so students will be out of the buildings, which are mostly not air conditioned, during the hottest part of the day.
In addition, school officials said afternoon and evening activities will also be cancelled.
