WeHa Woman Charged With Yelling Slurs At Jewish Center: WHPD

The 42-year-old was taken into custody after police said she was yelling racist/anti-Semitic slurs outside the Jewish Community Center.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A 42-year-old local woman was charged after an incident Thursday in which someone was shouting anti-Semitic/racist remarks at the local Jewish Community Center.

According to the West Hartford Police Department Friday afternoon, police have charged Beth Rosenberg, 42, of West Hartford, with second-degree breach of peace; first-degree criminal trespassing; two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment; three counts of interfering with a police officer/resisting arrest; second-degree violation of conditions of release; third-degree intimidation by bias or bigotry; two counts of failure to drive in the proper lane; two counts of reckless driving; and three counts of engaging police in pursuit.

Police said she was being held on $50,000 bond, pending arraignment in Hartford Superior Court.

While in custody, she was later transported to an area hospital for an "emergency committal," police said.

Police said at about 2:30 p.m., officers were called to the Jewish Community Center at 335 Bloomfield Ave. for a report of a female yelling anti-Semitic/racist remarks in the parking lot and inside the building.

She was then located in a moving vehicle at the nearby New England Jewish Academy at 300 Bloomfield Ave., failing to stop when ordered to do so by police, the WHPD said.

According to the WHPD, she was then located in town two other times and, again, did not stop when told to do so.

At about 5:14 p.m., the suspect was found in her vehicle in the parking lot of the West Hartford United Methodist Church at 1358 New Britain Ave., West Hartford.

Police arrived and additional officers were called to "forcibly" remove her from her vehicle and take her into custody, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to police, Rosenberg had previously been issued a trespassing warning regarding the community center site.
