WeHa's Mayor Elected To Key Regional Post

WEST HARTFORD, CT — West Hartford's top elected official was elected the number two ranking member of the Capital Region Council of Governments' slate of officers.

The CRCOG met Wednesday, Dec. 20 and the regional Hartford area advocacy organization elected Democratic West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor as first vice-chairperson.

The chairperson elected was Republican New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart with GOP Ellington First Selectman Lori Spielman being elected second vice chairperson.

Rounding out the slate were Democratic East Windsor First Selectman Jason Bowsza as secretary and Democratic Wethersfield Mayor Ken Lesser as treasurer.

CRCOG Executive Director Matthew Hart, who was West Hartford's town manager prior to his current role, praised the makeup of CROG's board.

“Our Policy Board has wisely elected a proven slate of officers to lead the Board and our organization. We have several important projects and initiatives underway, and I appreciate the leadership, talent, and dedication each officer brings to CRCOG," Hart said.

"I look forward to working closely with them over the next two-year term to best serve our members, our residents, and our taxpayers.”

CRCOG is a voluntary council of governments formed to initiate and implement regional programs and initiatives to benefit its member towns and the region. CRCOG is the largest of Connecticut’s regional planning organizations, with a population of 976,248 and a land area of 1,047 square miles.
