West Hartford Classes To Help Folks With Computer Literacy

The West Hartford Public Library Jan. 29-30 is hosting two sessions of classes to help folks better use their computers to communicate.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — If your New Year resolution is to finally figure out how to use that computer, then the West Hartford Public Library can help.

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, the Faxon Branch of the West Hartford library, 1073 New Britain Ave., will host a workshop where participants will be able to brush up on various uses of those high-tech gadgets that seem to dominate our lives.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Noah Webster branch, 20 S. Main St., will host a class as well.

Wednesday's program is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., while Thursday's class is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

"Join our friendly instructors for this series of workshops, where you can learn new tech skills and get more comfortable using technology," wrote the library in an announcement.

Those who participate will learn how to set up a free Gmail account, reply to and send emails, manage and organize your emails, and more.

This class will also guide people through the basics of using the Internet, with folks learning how to connect, search, and browse on their own.

Laptops will be provided, but people can also bring their machines.

The class is ideal for more mature adults who, perhaps, want to better be able to communicate with their grandchildren.
